We are seeking an experienced Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the day-to-day leadership of our warehouse and distribution operations at our Pompano Beach headquarters.
This is a key operational leadership position reporting to the Warehouse Manager. The Assistant Warehouse Manager will work closely with warehouse supervisors and team leads to coordinate daily workflow, maintain productivity and accuracy, resolve operational issues, and ensure orders are processed and shipped according to company expectations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on warehouse leader who is comfortable spending time on the floor, managing priorities in real time, holding teams accountable, and helping develop supervisors and associates.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Warehouse Manager in overseeing daily warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory movement.
- Coordinate daily workflow and priorities across warehouse functions based on order volume, shipping deadlines, staffing, and operational needs.
- Provide day-to-day direction and support to warehouse supervisors and team leads to ensure work is properly assigned and completed.
- Monitor productivity, accuracy, attendance, workflow, and overall performance throughout the day and address issues as they arise.
- Help ensure customer and company shipping deadlines are consistently met while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
- Identify bottlenecks, staffing gaps, process issues, and other operational challenges and work with the Warehouse Manager and supervisors to resolve them.
- Assist with inventory control activities, including cycle counts, inventory accuracy, product movement, and investigation of discrepancies.
- Coach and develop supervisors, leads, and warehouse associates on processes, performance expectations, safety, and proper use of warehouse equipment.
- Reinforce company policies, procedures, attendance expectations, and performance standards and partner with the Warehouse Manager and HR when corrective action is necessary.
- Assist with onboarding and training new warehouse employees and ensure required training is completed.
- Ensure warehouse equipment and work areas are maintained in safe and proper working condition.
- Promote and enforce compliance with company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, sanitation standards, and other applicable warehouse regulations.
- Work closely with other departments, including Customer Service, Inventory, Operations, and management, to resolve order and inventory issues.
- Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, overtime needs, and allocation of employees based on daily workload.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to increase warehouse efficiency, productivity, accuracy, and organization.
- Assist with operational reporting and tracking of key warehouse performance indicators.
- Serve as the primary operational leader on the warehouse floor when the Warehouse Manager is unavailable.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of progressive warehouse/distribution experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, picking, packing, inventory control, and general warehouse operations.
- Experience directing warehouse associates and working with supervisors or team leads.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach employees, address performance concerns, and maintain accountability.
- Ability to prioritize multiple operational needs in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions when operational issues arise.
- Experience working with warehouse management, inventory, shipping, or ERP systems.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively with both employees and management.
- Ability to work on the warehouse floor and perform the physical requirements associated with a warehouse environment.
- Forklift and/or material-handling equipment experience is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field is preferred but not required; equivalent warehouse leadership experience will be considered.
