The Store Manager will serve as the face of the brand at our retail store, Spring Step Shoes, in Jackson, NJ. The primary focus of this position is to provide world-class customer service while driving sales results at the location.
Core accountabilities:
- Create a successful and positive sales culture that fosters strong performance across all associates.
- Drive a team-oriented selling environment that benefits the Spring Step brand, associates, and guests alike.
- Set achievable yet growth-focused goals for themselves and all associates, including total sales, individual pairs sold, promotional targets, and accessory goals, while ensuring the store is properly staffed to meet these objectives.
- Oversee all aspects of store recruitment, collaborating with the team to attract, retain, and develop talent for both the store and the broader company.
- Lead the effective teaching, coaching, and training of all store associates within an established timeframe.
- Manage performance and address employee relations issues within the store.
- Analyze the store's Profit & Loss (P&L) to drive financial performance.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures related to loss prevention and shrinkage.
- Act as a leader of change for associates and a champion of company initiatives.
- Ensure proper merchandising of products according to company guidelines.
- Ensure the safety and security of associates, guests, and partners.
Key outputs/results:
- Drive a sales culture by leveraging incentives, celebrating successes, and overcoming obstacles to successful selling.
- Use daily productivity targets to ensure proper staffing levels in the store and effectively communicate goals to all associates.
- Analyze the P&L and other store data to manage controllable costs, minimize losses, and meet key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure store asset security by adhering to risk management policies, including daily bank deposits, opening and closing procedures, store balance and compliance policies, and required stock counts and inventory management.
- Lead the implementation of key initiatives and new programs within the store to meet sales and marketing objectives.
- Maintain and analyze hot-seller reports and Shopify statistics, using this data to develop improvement plans and effectively communicate these plans to field management.
- Ensure all security and safety procedures are properly trained, communicated, executed, and observed by the entire team.
- Recruit top talent with the support of the field management team, ensuring a consistent and effective recruitment process. Provide thorough training for all new hires to promote success and positivity.
- Oversee the performance and development review process in-store, ensuring all team members receive regular reviews to facilitate their growth and succession planning.
- Partner with field management to create a positive, productive store culture, ensuring fair and consistent treatment of all associates.
Essential knowledge, experience & competencies:
- Knowledge of the footwear or fashion industry and retail sector.
- 1-3 years of prior retail experience.
- Minimum of 3-6 months in a management role.
- Proven track record of building business and customer loyalty.
- Experience working for a retail company with oversight from field leadership.
- Understanding of basic business and financial reports.
- Proficiency with basic software.
- Ability to problem-solve and manage scheduling to achieve business goals.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to climb an 8-foot ladder.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and bend as necessary.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
