Position Summary

The Retail Operation Manager serves as the business leader and brand ambassador for Spring Step Shoes retail stores. This role combines strategic planning, operational excellence, and team leadership to ensure all locations achieve sales, profitability, and client experience goals. The ideal candidate is a performance-driven, hands-on leader who develops strong teams, drives operational standards, and enhances the overall brand experience.

 

Key Responsibilities

Business Leadership

  • Oversee performance across all retail stores, analyzing KPIs to drive sales, profitability, and operational efficiency.
  • Drive comp sales growth and create action plans to maximize performance across existing stores.
  • Develop strategies to drive new store sales, ensuring strong openings and consistent growth post-launch.
  • Provide Store Managers with clear objectives and oversee progress through consistent follow-up and coaching.
  • Lead the opening of new stores, ensuring proper execution of timelines, staffing, merchandising, and operational setup.
  • Ensure effective execution of promotions, events, and marketing initiatives to grow market presence and expand the customer base.
  • Maintain consistent brand presentation and store image standards.
  • Monitor local market trends, competitive activity, and community events to strengthen store strategies.

Client Experience

  • Develop and support initiatives that enhance loyalty, customer engagement, and client retention.
  • Ensure the selling ceremony is consistently executed to provide a personalized and memorable customer experience.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement action plans to improve service standards.

Team Leadership

  • Inspire, mentor, and develop Store Managers and their teams to achieve sales and operational targets.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with HR to support recruitment, training, development, and retention efforts for the retail organization.
  • Lead regular Store Manager meetings to ensure alignment, communication, and sharing of best practices.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee adherence to operational standards including stock management, loss prevention, cash handling, IT systems, and store maintenance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting while maintaining strong communication between stores and corporate leadership.
  • Lead ongoing development, refinement, and implementation of retail processes and procedures to continually improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline workflows and elevate store performance.

 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive retail operations experience; multi-store or district management strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive comp sales and accelerate new store sales growth.
  • Proven experience opening new stores, including staffing, operational setup, merchandising execution, and launch planning.
  • Experience developing, improving, and implementing retail processes and procedures across multiple locations.
  • Experience in luxury, comfort footwear, fashion, or specialty retail is a plus.
  • Proven track record of driving sales results, improving operations, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical, strategic-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel frequently, domestically and internationally.
